The orifice plates are designed to measure flow for fluids such as gas, liquid or vapor. Very robust and simple of construction, they offer very high reliability. No moving parts, can withstand high temperatures and pressures, they provide a very effective Cost/Performance ratio.
Venturi
The Venturi tubes have the same characteristics as the nozzles and orifice plates but they have a very low pressure drop. The diameters are limited by construction and manufacturing cost.
Nozzles
The nozzles are mainly used for gas and steam application. The pressure loss is lower than for an orifice plate and accuracy are better. No moving parts, they require very low maintenance.
